HISTORY

   Olympus Board Shop opened in 1998. It was started by South Bay native Jeremy Godo Kiss who was born in Venice Beach and raised in Hermosa Beach. While skateboarding became an early passion for him, the need for more speed, higher air, and the simple love of being in the outdoors drew him to the sport of snowboarding. In the spring of 1988, one year before Mammoth Mountain allowed snowboarding, he and two high school buddies rented snowboards at June Mountain for the first time. That was all it took. These 3 kids were part of the small group of rebels who pioneered the snowboarding movement in Southern California.

   While the shop’s roots lie in skateboarding and snowboarding, we have evolved to offer gear for surfing, standup paddling, and our newest activity, foil boarding. Who knows what the next addition will be…Whatever lies ahead, you can be sure we will lead the charge. While our focus is to offer the highest quality and most innovative products available in the industry, we also specialize in rentals, lessons, and repairs along with SUP tours for the seasoned standup paddler looking for more adventure than what can be had inside a harbor. We are a small fish in a big pond, but come on in, the water is fine. If we don’t have what you need chances are we can get it quick. If we can’t we are happy to steer you in the right direction because we’re sure one of the other local shops will have it.
